Eva Santos and Sisterhood

How do women navigate life without intimate friends, sisters in Christ walking with them?

The answer, it's a lonely and difficult road. I speak from experience.

I hosted a brunch recently, about seven of us. The whole idea was to take time out of our busy schedules to fellowship, edify one another and build intimate and meaningful relationships. 😍

We had a great meal and just spent about an hour and a half sharing what God is doing in our lives, and our challenges and victories. Each of my friends seemed to have great wisdom to impart. It was as though Jesus had orchestrated the get together to provide just what each of us needed.

Here are some of the valuable nuggets we gleaned from our get together.

Often our thoughts and emotional patterns are lingering baggage from trauma or negative life experiences and relationships. We need to replace the old software with a divine download. How do we do that? Get in the Word, speak aloud scriptures that remind you who you are in Christ. Don't allow others' opinions or attitudes to define you. You are a new creation; you are an overcomer! Amen. 🙏

Another area we as women struggle with, is asking for help. We've all bought the bologna that we should be self-reliant, superheroes that bring home the bacon, run our homes like Martha Stewart and look like Victoria's Secret models or were not worthy. Phooey! We're all designed and gifted for the purposes God ordained before time. We have to be humble enough to know that He created us to be interdependent. Your light will shine brightest when you aren't taking on so much that you're overwhelmed. Honor a friend or family member by giving them the opportunity to bless you.

My encouragement to you, if you have an intimate group of friends, praise God and treasure them. If you don't, ask the Lord to lead you to the right women. It might be through your church, a service organization, your neighborhood or perhaps you can join a class or community group that is of interest to you like, hiking, cooking, cycling or even a book club. 📚

Galatians 6:2 Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ. ✝️

My hope and desire are that we walk together, pouring into one another's lives and drawing closer to Christ through a sacred sisterhood.

In His Grace,

Eva
